ARKOSE – Salle d’escalade de bloc

Located in a district under rapid development, Arkose Massy is a bouldering facility with a restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal dishes made from fresh ingredients, as well as a bar area.
Arkose Massy is the largest bouldering facility in France, with a total surface area of 1,550 m².
The facility also proposes tuition in gentle sports such as yoga and pilates, and features a sauna, as well as a children’s area for budding climbers.

So what is bouldering?

Bouldering originated in Fontainebleau in the early 20th century as a means of preparing climbers for their first outdoor sessions on mountains and cliff faces. It has become a discipline in its own right over the last few years.

Bouldering, then, involves climbing walls of about 4 metres in height with no safety equipment other than climbing slippers.

In outdoor practice, climbers ensure their safety with the use of a special mat, or crash pad. In our facilities, the floor of the entire bouldering area is covered with a thick safety mat, to allow you to climb without danger!
