That’s the question we’re always dying to ask fishermen.
If there’s one activity that can be enjoyed anywhere, it’s fishing. At sea, in the countryside, in the mountains or in the city (yes, even in Paris!), fishing is accessible to everyone! Maybe that’s why it’s one of the top leisure activities in France, attracting more than 1.5 million people.
The biggest fans of fishing will be set up as early as sunrise and spend the whole day either filling their bucket with fish or releasing them back into the water (no kill zones). Some choose to spend the day alone whereas others will share this experience with friends or family. To become good at fishing, patience and silence are key. With or without bait, using a spinning or telescopic rod, the choice of equipment is vital.
In this article, we’ll give you all the information you’ll need about the authorised fishing spots in the Paris-Saclay urban area. Enjoy the peace and quiet on the banks and shores of the rivers and lakes in our destination, including the Orge, Yvette and Bièvre rivers. So, prepare your favourite rod, bait and your fishing permit, and let’s go!
Fishing is an activity that is subject to strict regulations. For all the fishing locations mentioned here, you'll need a valid fishing permit. This permit is issued by local fishing associations.

There are so many fish swimming about in our rivers and lakes. They are mostly white fish, including pike, perch, carp, roach, gudgeon, tench, black bass, etc.
The sheer number of them is a good indication of the quality of the waterways. They should be protected for future generations, so that these aquatic treasures can continue to amaze nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts.
While fishing, make sure you respect other users, other people fishing and the beautiful natural environment all around you!
